Islanders living near Ryde, on the north coast of the Isle of Wight, were treated to a taste of things to come as a hot air balloon enjoyed a test flight over the lower valley earlier this week. Photos of the freshly landed balloon were quickly circulated on social media as the hype for this brand new balloon festival starts to ramp up.
This May, to coincide with the summer half term, organizers at nearby Robin Hill amusement park have been conjuring up plans for a new hot air balloon festival for all the family called Sky High, and locals were treated to a sneak preview.
Plans for the festival include the opportunity to fly tethered to the ground, or free to roam the skies, like the balloon that surprised the locals of Ryde this week. Over 40 balloons are expected to be visible at the bonanza. The festival, which will run for two days, will also feature a night glow. These light displays are firm favorites at balloon festivals and are sure to be remarkable here, with the beautiful Island landscape as a backdrop.
