Memories of Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2013

15/08/2013 Jo Bailey News

Bristol International Balloon Fiesta 2013 has been hailed as the best yet! It was certainly a fantastic Fiesta with us flying five out of the seven slots.

We flew with four hot air balloons there including our Bailey Balloon, the Big Red Original balloon, the Anana Balloon and The One Show balloon. Clive was also the Display director for the Fiesta in charge of anything in the sky! This included the Red Arrows, The RAF Typhoon and the Breitling Wingwalkers (who both appeared twice) amongst others.

The Thursday night saw some new special shapes flying including the Minion, Stuart, from Despicable Me 2 which was a good favourite this year.

On Friday morning we didn’t fly sadly as the wind was too strong for safe passenger flights. Jo looked after Carol Kirkwood from BBC breakfast Weather and was even interviewed by Carol for the live show. Bailey Bear also made an appearance and was mentioned by Carol!

We had two romantic couples in our balloons who became engaged when Chris proposed to Jill and Adam proposed to Kathryn! Chris was very brave and actually proposed in front of other passengers and camera man from BBC Points West and it was broadcast on late Friday evening!

Bailey Bear was a great hit and spent time with many youngsters- some of whom cried when she left!

Bailey Bear received loads of cuddles from some lovley children!

We also helped to break a record at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta when 74 balloons on Saturday morning landed on the same landowner which was the old Frys Chocolate Factory in Keynsham!

Both the Thursday and Saturday nights saw the stunning night glows where the balloon glow in time to music. The crowds were enormous and there was a great atmosphere.

We were busy on our stand and met loads of lovely people who came to see us!

On Sunday morning we flew George Ferguson with his grand-daughter to announce Bailey Balloons taking Bristol Pounds. Sunday evening the flights were cancelled due to the winds being too strong, which was a great shame, as it was such an amazing fiesta we wish we could have flown every slot!
