An upcoming event in the eastern United States will soon see the skies filled with hot air balloons of all colours.
Summer is a prime time for hot air balloon rides. From Bristol to Bali, there are numerous ballooning festivals in the warmer months and each has something unique to offer, which is why New Jersey’s BalloonFest is being welcomed once again by the state’s residents.
From July 25 to 27, Readington’s Solberg Airport will play host to the festival, which consists of dawn ascensions and sunset balloon launches, along with musical acts and much more besides.
BalloonFest has been named as one of the Top 100 Events in North America no less than six times, meaning that many may make their way to the state for the occasion. This year’s festival is said to be more spectacular than ever, with musical performances from the likes of 3 Doors Down and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
Of course, there is plenty of ballooning to be had too, with more than 100 balloons set to take flight twice a day, including the QuickCheck Flighthouse, which is a 115-foot-tall balloon dedicated to the restoration efforts after super storm Sandy, and the signature balloon of the whole event.
Also down to be flown will be an American flag-shaped balloon, which was created as a tribute to 9/11. This balloon has been featured at every BalloonFest since the terrorist attacks in 2001. A number of marriage proposals and romantic flights are also expected, as part of the ‘love at first flight’ feature.
