The day is finally here! Bristol International Balloon Fiesta starts
today and we are ready! We have picked out a few highlights from the

Thursday 7th August
The evening nightglows are undoubtedly a stunning must see. 30 ballooning
teams take centre stage whilst lighting up their tethered balloons as night
falls at 9.15pm on Thursday 7th and Saturday 9th August, to a backdrop of
spectacular fireworks and music.
RAF Typhoon Display Team – Friday 3pm, Saturday 1pm
We are delighted to welcome back the RAF Typhoon Display Team in 2014.
Visitors are invited to brace themselves for a fly past with a
difference!The Typhoon is a majestic and incredibly loud spectacle as if
flies over Ashton Court.The Typhoon arrives at high speed of 450 knots and
at 100ft and when you see it, this will be the culmination of months of hard
work, detailed preparation and concerted effort by the team behind the
display.
5pm Seb Hawley
Perfect music for a fiesta evening. Seb has a great singers voice and sweet
melodies
that are becoming very well known on the local and now national music scene.
6.00pm Revealing of Special Shapes!
If early mornings are not your thing, why not join us for the day enjoying
lunch or afternoon tea, in time to see flypasts and secure a good spot to
watch the evening ascent as the balloons lift off over the City of Bristol.
6pm Ema Sierra
Writer, musician and teller of intimate stories with
a voice that floats steadily over a distant, droning guitar.
7pm Ros Cuthbert
The cool sounds of Jazz & Blues with Ros to finish
off the opening day of fiesta bandstand music.
9.15pm Nightglow and Fireworks
The famous Fiesta Nightglows are a stunning end to your evening. Over 30
ballooning teams will light up the night sky with their balloons in time to
music as night falls at 9.15pm on both Thursday 7th and Saturday 9th August,
followed by a spectacular fireworks finale.
Friday 8th August

Watch out for the Tyhoon overhead on Friday 8th August at 3pm and Saturday
9th August at 1pm.
6.00am Mass Ascent – ‘Breakfast and Balloons’
You can watch the hot air balloons take to the sky as the sun rises with a
morning coffee and bacon sandwich in hand. Take in the serenity of an early
morning surrounded by countryside as the balloons ascend into the bright
blue sky.
4pm Tony Barrett Powell
One of the finest local musicians on the scene.
And a great photographer as well. That’s Tony.
Brietling Wing Walkers – Friday 4pm, Sunday 4pm
The Brietling Wing Walkers are the world’s only aerobatic formation
wingwalking team. They perform a breathtaking sequence of acrobatic
manoeuvres and handstands whilst strapped to the top wings of the team’s
beautiful Boeing Stearman biplanes. The team pilots fly the aircraft through
a well rehearsed energetic routine of dazzling aerobatics and close
formation flypasts as the wingwalkers wave at the crowd. These manoeuvres
include, loops, rolls, stall turns and even inverted flight! During all of
this, the wingwalkers experience speeds of up to 150 mph and ‘G’ forces of
up to 4G!
Watch out for the wingwalkers overhead on Friday 8th August at 4pm and
Sunday 9th August at 4pm.
5pm The Bridge
A 6 piece folk/pop outfit, on the verge of releasing their first Album. The
album has been entirely based on Bristol and the Wests heritage and
characters, both current and historical. The sound and material is original,
and the line up includes, guitars, accordion, flutes, sax, mandolin,
keyboards, bass, drums, percussion and vocals.

6pm Sam Evans
Upbeat and Uplifting acoustic music with jazz/soul blends.
A one off listening experience which often leaves you with a smile on your
face.
7pm Elles Bailey
Elles’voice has been described as the love child of Etta… James and Janice
Joplin.
Its unique husky tone sounds like she drinks Jack Daniels from the bottle
and smokes 60 a day. (Not true of course)

And Still only 18 years old. Darren’s future is bright indeed.
5.45pm Brockley Forest
Balloon Fiesta favourites who always go down well.
Rock duo Brockley Forest are just getting better and better.
Just released a very acclaimed ep. Enjoy.

What a way to finish the music on Saturday night at the Fiesta.
9 piece all female band Meet Your Feet playing their very own Jazz, Funk
and Soul.

Bath based Cindy Stratton writes music that could be described as
contemporary acoustic with powerful and haunting melodies. The songs are
compelling and reflective stories of life and love. She has an enormous
vocal range and a great feel for harmony.
1.30pm Foreign Affairs
Foreign Affairs are an Indie/Folk Band. Their catchy music infuses
the best of English folk, American Country and modern Pop.
2.30pm Sean Snook
One of the Bristol Music scene greats. Sean has worked on
numerous collaborations as well as his own amazing material
and is a very well respected musician worldwide.
3.30pm Lousie Brent
laid back and melodic with a gift for love songs and beautiful melodies
that stick in your head .Perfect chill out music for a Ballon Fiesta
afternoon.
