This year’s Arkansas Valley Balloon Festival proved to be a popular event, thanks to an array of hot air balloons and the perfect weather conditions for such an airshow.
The popular balloon show was attended by an excited crowd on Saturday, November 7. A number of well-loved hot air balloons attended the event, including one in the image of popular Looney Tunes character Marvin the Martian, Dream Ship, Spirit of 76 and Dark Sunrise.
In total, there were around 26 hot air balloons in attendance, and the weather on both Saturday and Sunday was fantastic, enabling the participating balloons and their pilots to drift off toward Cheraw, on the Saturday morning, followed by a motorcade of enthusiasts, who were able to stop and take some great shots of the hot air balloons as they soared.
Several of the visiting hot air balloons performed touch and go landings, which allowed groups of spectators to enjoy the balloons.
One happy spectator, Patsy Buchwald, who provided tissue paper for the children of Jefferson School to use to create their own balloons, commented:
“We had a fabulous time at the 2015 Arkansas Valley Balloon Festival. Thank you to all that made it possible.”
The event was sponsored by a number or local companies including Rivers Equipment, the Rocky Ford Lions Club and Gold Sponsor.
Of course, you do not have to go as far as Arkansas to enjoy hot air ballooning – there are plenty of hot air balloon rides in Swindon, Gloucester and Bath, among other places, to enjoy in the UK.
