‘Extreme Artist’ leaps from hot air balloon

28/11/2015 Jo Bailey News

A Finnish man, who refers to himself as an ‘extreme artist’ recently jumped from a hot air balloon wearing nothing more than goggles and a pair of shorts.

Antti Pendikainen posted his thrill-seeking antics online in a video that was viewed by over 100,000 people in its first 24 hours.

The video shows Pendikainen appearing as if he is about to embark on nothing more than an average skydive from a balloon. However, things take an extreme turn when the adrenaline junkie reveals to his friends, who are filming him, that he is going to do something totally crazy.

In the video, which can be seen on YouTube, he says:

“I woke up this morning and felt like I wasn’t going to need my parachute…”

He then proceeds to throw his parachute from the basket of the hot air balloon, much to the astonishment of his friends.

Pendikainen then shouts:

“I’m stupid and tough enough to do it without a parachute, I’m not going to need it.”

He then takes off his shirt and jumps from the hot air balloon as his parachuted friends follow him down.

As he gets close to the ground, Pendikainen joins with a skydiving friend, so that he can land safely, later describing the death defying experience as ‘cool.’

If you would like to experience a less extreme form of hot air ballooning, hot air balloon rides in Bristol, Taunton and Bath are ideal, although they’re unlikely to get you as many hits on YouTube.
