Hot air balloon enthusiasts will not have to go to much effort if they want to spot a hot air balloon this June, providing they are located in Central London. This year’s Lord Mayor’s Appeal Hot Air Balloon Regatta will see no less than fifty hot air balloons take to the skies above the UK’s capital.
After the success of last year’s inaugural hot air balloon bonanza, the regatta has been announced as an annual event, which will see dozens of balloons soaring skywards. The event will provide locals and tourists alike with a unique opportunity to see a cluster of balloons, take some interesting photographs and witness a colourful kaleidoscope in the sky.
Although the regatta will definitely be taking place in June, the exact date of the event is not yet known. This is because hot air balloon flights rely to a great degree on the weather conditions, and can only take off when the weather is clement.
For this reason, the event could take place on either the 5th, 12th, 19th or 26th of June, but it will definitely be on a Sunday. This is so as many people as possible can witness the spectacle, which will kick off at around dawn.
The regatta, which will raise money for a host of UK charities, as well as the Lord Mayor’s appeal, is just one of a number of hot air ballooning events across the UK, with hot air balloon flights in Bristol Somerset and beyond also taking place this year.
