It has been announced that hot air balloons will be added to the annual Telford Kite Festival for the first time in 2018, making the event bigger than ever before.
Lindstrand Technologies has been named as a partner in the Fiesta and will be supporting the hot air balloons filling the Shropshire skies. Furthermore, there will be tethered balloons located in the QEII Fields of the Trust Town Park for visitors to see up close.
The Telford Balloon and Kite Fiesta is set to take place later this year on May 12 and 13, weather permitting, and will provide spectators with four different opportunities to see the balloons take to the sky.
There will be a night glow for attendees to enjoy on the first night, when up to 10 balloons will be lit to become floating lanterns, and will be accompanied by music.
The regular partners of the event, The Midlands Kite Flyers, will be joining in with the spectacle by flying their professional kites at the rugby club. People will also be given the chance to create and fly their own kites.
The Fiesta will be free for visitors to attend and will take place between 12:00 noon and 10:00 pm on May 12, and between 11:00 am and 7:00 pm on May 13. The nominated charity of this year’s event will be the Severn Hospice in Telford, as nominated by Councillor Stephen Reynolds, the mayor of Telford and Wrekin borough. More announcements about the event are still to be revealed.
Hot air ballooning in Gloucester, Bath and all over the UK continues to rise in popularity as balloons make more appearances at public events.
