Putting the ‘super’ into Weston-super-Mare, Somerset locals are looking forward to welcoming the seaside resort’s first hot air balloon festival, set to take off in November.
Hot on the heels of street artist Banksy’s internationally-acclaimed Dismaland, the southwestern town is proving again that it offers more than sand and sea, and is fast becoming a cultural hot spot for the region.
Dubbed the Weston super Glow, next month’s air balloon bonanza will be the first of its kind to launch from the beach, providing a panorama of glowing balloons over the sea. It is hoped that the family-friendly event will become a fixture in the town’s events calendar, and will emulate the success of the nearby Bristol Balloon Fiesta, which draws crowds to the area from far and wide. Charging £5 to enter the event, the stunning aerial choreography set to music will be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.
Other nearby festivals organised by the promoters include Longleat’s recent sky safari and the Lord Mayor of London’s Hot Air Balloon Regatta, both of which went off without a hitch this summer.
The Weston super Glow will get underway during the evening of Saturday, November 17.
Seeing the seascape by air balloon will no doubt be an impressive experience, and stunning views over the West Country can also be enjoyed year-round. Just down the road from Weston-Super-Mare, we offer breath-taking hot air balloon flights in Bath, Bristol and other parts of the South West.
