Get set for aerial adventures in Bath

05/03/2019 philip Hot Air Balloon Rides

Named as a World Heritage Site in 1987, the historic city of Bath attracts visitors from around the world.

Literature fans delight in visiting the Jane Austen Centre, revisiting sites first discovered in her novels Persuasion and Northanger Abbey. For historians of science, the Herschel Museum of Astronomy is a popular draw, while Bath’s unique status as the only English city with naturally hot springs means that an additional 260,000 people per year come to visit to take to the waters in the Thermae Bath Spa, which reopened after lengthy closure in 2006. On top of all this though, what if you could experience these wonders from a different vantage point? Perhaps from 2,000 feet high?

Enjoy panoramic vistas over the South West

For locals and visitors alike, a hot air balloon adventure over the rooftops of Bath is an incredible experience. Setting off from the majestic Royal Victoria Park, your flight ascends above the leafy park canopy, giving you superb views over the iconic Royal Crescent semi-circular parade. The nearby Circus then pops into view. To the south, you spot the vast Bath Abbey. Remember to take your camera to capture these magnificent buildings from the sky.

As the balloon climbs further – sometimes to heights of 5,000 feet – the rolling green valley of Avon and the winding river will come into view. On a clear day, you might be able to spy the standing stones of Avebury to the east, the rooftops of Bristol to the west, or the Glastonbury Tor to the south.

A touch of romance

Flights take off just after dawn or just before sunset. Not only is this a very peaceful and romantic time to explore the city from the air, but this is when the winds are calmest, making for a more pleasurable flight. After a few hours of aerial exploration, you can disembark to a wonderful champagne toast (soft drinks also available). For something more substantial, a picnic can also be provided.

Versatile group bookings

Balloons can accommodate both small and large groups. They are perfect for surprising a loved one for an anniversary or other special moment. They are also great for larger get-together. Stag and hen parties, corporate team building events, fun family days out – we have the capacity to accommodate them all. You will always be in safe hands with our expertly trained pilots who will carefully take you in hand while also showing you the best time possible. During the flight, your pilot captures the moment for you on film and downloads it onto a USB for you to purchase and take home after the flight, providing you with an amazing souvenir of your adventure.

Hot air balloon trips make a great gift and they never disappoint. Once you have been up in a balloon, you will want to repeat the experience again and again. You could even train to become a pilot yourself, and eventually guide your own parties over the Bath skies.
