The popular Longleat Estate in Wiltshire has added a new hot air balloon event to its 2020 calendar.
Fans of hot air balloons in Bath, Bristol and other nearby cities can enjoy a feast for the eyes in a two-day event created in line with social distancing safety measures.
The all new drive-in ‘night glow’ invites members of the public to appreciate a spectacular hot air balloon display at sunset across the 9,000-acre estate, which is home to a safari park filled with lions, tigers and monkeys.
Around 30 different hot air balloons will be prepared along the banks of Longleat’s Half-Mile Lake, set and ready to fire up their burners as part of a display of light and music in front of the iconic Elizabethan house.
For safety, those attending are invited to appreciate the epic sights and sounds from the comfort and privacy of their own vehicles. Temporary bathroom facilities will be set up near the designated drive-in parking area and will be constantly attended to by a dedicated cleansing team. Food huts selling snacks and treats will also be present, allowing guests an opportunity to stretch their legs and indulge their appetite.
The Drive-In Night Glow will take place on Friday, September 11th and Saturday, September 12th at sunset. As is often the case with events involving hot air balloons, the night glow will be weather dependant, as high winds can result in safety risks for both crews and their balloons.
