The Bristol Bears rugby team has recently launched its new 2022/23 home shirt by sending it off on its travels into the sky via hot air balloon.
With the help of principal partner Huboo, Bristol Bears launched the new kit into the sky attached to a hot air balloon as part of Bristol’s iconic Balloon Fiesta. The hot air balloon took off on the morning of Friday, 12th August to excited reactions from the crowd.
The navy blue shirt with red and white sleeve tips was showcased in front of crowds of Balloon Fiesta enthusiasts, Bristol Bears fans and even the team members themselves. The launch was livestreamed while the team ate breakfast within the High Performance centre a short way away from the site of the fiesta launch.
Tom Tainton, Bristol Bears’ Head of Operations and someone who grew up in Bristol, is very familiar with the festival and believes it is very important for the team ahead of the new season in September. He commented in a statement that:
“Bristol Bears have a genuine vision to inspire the community – it’s not just a soundbite, it’s a genuine vision for the club and for everyone who gets the privilege of working there, so the balloon fiesta is an opportunity to be a part of that community.”
As well as being featured on the hot air balloon ride, Bristol Bears attended the fiesta to sign items for fans and take photos, as well as offering coaching for free. There were even jokes about an additional Bristol Bears hot air balloon joining the fiesta.
