The southwestern town of Telford played host last month to its epic Talford Balloon Fiesta.
Over 25 balloons descended on Telford Town Park to welcome unprecedented crowds of ballooning fans over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Balloons from all over the world were in attendance and the three-day bonanza saw a host of activities taking place to delight visitors of all ages.
Three days of live music and entertainment were planned throughout the weekend. Dawn and dusk ascents enabled visitors to see the balloons at their best. The beginning and the end of the day are the times for balloon ascents because the atmospheric conditions for flights are usually more favourable than at hotter times of the day. Various ballooning companies also offered visitors the opportunity to book flights over the local area.
The event was accompanied by gymnastic and dance displays that took place as part of the Telford Carnival, which had had to be rescheduled from earlier in the summer due to the extreme heat. The event offered the people of Telford the opportunity to show their town off at its best. Other activities including a motorcycle display, a flight simulator and circus performances.
The magic of hot air ballooning never fails to inspire people, hence the enduring popularity of events like the Telford Balloon Fiesta. Those inspired to explore the south west from the vantage point of a hot air balloon can take advantage of hot air balloon flights over Bath, Bristol and the local area.
