05/12/2016 Jo Bailey News, Tourism

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

As Christmas draws nearer and the weather gets colder, there is a variety of Christmas events and activities to keep the whole family busy. So, while you’re not busy doing the Christmas shopping, here are some of our best picks. Just remember to wrap up warm!

Winter Wonderland: The Mall Cribbs Causeway

The South West’s largest ice rink returns to The Mall Cribbs Causeway this Christmas along with Santa’s Enchanted Ice Castle and a magical train ride inside The Mall. Winter Wonderland is open from Thursday 10th November til Sunday 8th January and is guaranteed fun for all the family!

Bristol’s German Christmas Market

Bristol’s much loved Christmas Market returns to the pedestrianised area of Broadmead in Bristol Shopping Quarter. Visitors can expect a magical winter atmosphere complete with 40 wooden chalet style stalls, full of Christmas gifts and tasty treats. There is also authentic German food and bars where you can get your hands on German drinks and of course mulled wine! The market opens on Friday 11th November.

Bath Christmas Market

The award-winning Bath Market returns for the festive period. Set in the streets surrounding Bath Abbey, it’s the perfect way to get in the festive mood! This year’s market features over 170 chalets offering beautiful Christmas gifts and tasty food. You can soak up the sights and smells with lots of mince pies and mulled wine on offer! The market opens on Thursday 24th November.

Christmas at the Spiegeltent

The Spiegeltent returns to Bristol this Christmas on The Waterfront on Friday 24th November. Featuring live acts, music, DJ’s, theatre and performance, fine food and craft beer. There is also an annual masked ball and new for this year is a massive New Year’s Eve party!

Santa’s on the run!

Find your running trainers and dig out that Santa costume because the annual Santa’s on the Run 2k fun run is back in Bristol on Sunday 11th December. Last year over 2,000 people took part and raised over £53,000 for Children’s Hospice South West. To find out more about this event head to www.chsw.org.uk/events/christmas/santas-on-the-run/bristol

At-Bristol’s Christmas Ice Rink

If you fancy having some time off from all that Christmas shopping, why not visit the ice rink at At-Bristol? This year, the real-ice ice rink will be accompanied by fun fairground activities including an observation wheel on Anchor Square, an après-ski themed bar and a selection of Christmas stalls selling festive gifts and treats! The rink is now open until 3rd January 2017.
